Been away for a few days, getting a few things organized, but it is with great pleasure, that I (along with my partners over at Sound Villains Management present the latest A9 single, called Higher feat. Sumeet.
It was a mad fun collabo with my homegirl Sumeet (the girl whose melodious voice blessed us all withYou Blew It (C’est La Vie)). It was co-written with our other good friend Sandy Spady. We all got together, got in the zone, and banged this one out. If you like what you hear, you can purchase it from the following retailers:
Alternatively, you can also buy it from my myspace page (via Snocap) if you’re a DJ and would like a full 320kbps version (although many would argue that Amazon’s 256kbps is more than enough, that’s neither here nor there).
Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it!!
As some of you may know, I love design, and I am an amateur graphic designer. More than anything, I just like looking at neat pictures. While browsing around the world wide internets today, I came across this link from Smashing Magazine with a spectacular list of free PDF magazines. For those that don’t know, PDF magazines are like regular magazines, but in a downloadable (and printable) PDF format.
Once again gotta big up my man Duncan Powell. He’s started his own music blog, at http://duncanpowell.blogspot.com/. It’s a blog dedicated, quite simply, to his favourite music. His music taste is impeccable, as showcased in his radio shows and mix tapes, so definitely look for this blog to be big. Had to add this to my spots over there on the right, cuz I’ll definitely be checking for it.
So I was browsing the Wired Blog today when I ran across a youtube video that really took me back. I mean WAY back. It was a Sesame Street video with a pinball animation counting from 1 to 12. And that was it. But the music was like, damn!
It’s got a crazy funk track behind it, with all sorts of meter & tempo changes. The bassline is SICK. It’s too bad, they REALLY don’t make them like this anymore. One thing’s for sure, if there are ever any little A9’s running around, they’re learning to count with The Count. And that’s word to Big Bird.
Well, it’s about that time! Got a new jam up in the myspace player. It’s a remix I did for a group called 2tyme, and features the vocals of the lovely and talented Jennifer Jones.
I tried to make it a little tense, rather hard-hitting, yet still highlighting the sweet & melodious vocals. Was really a pleasure to work with her vocals. Click below to hear a clip, or head on over to my myspace page and check it out on the myspace player.
The Hobnox Audiotool is an application comprising of flash-based recreations of famous audio gear (synths, drum computers, & foot pedals) to create your own sounds, and use them in your own compositions.
This thing’s pretty dope! Even tho it’s only got a 909, a 707, and 2 303s, you can still make some crazy stuff w/ the pedals. It’s mad fun!
From the old to the new. Yesterday, I posted about one of my favourite older jams, MJ Cole’s "Sincere". Today, I wanted to bring some light to my man Duncan Powell for his bootleg remix of Outkast’s Prototype. A grand little 2-step bit, Duncan’s on fire lately. Can’t see him slowing down any time soon, either. Big up Duncan!
Woke up with this one in my head this morning, so it had to be done… Fantastic video, and one of the greatest songs ever, period. Big up the one like MJ Cole on this one!!
A long time ago, in a galaxy… wait. A long time ago, when I was still getting my feet wet in Dance Music, I was given an opportunity to do a couple remixes for a compilation called Anime Toonz. The concept of the compilation is that it’s famous Anime theme songs, re-sung and remixed into various forms of electronic music. It was originally slated to be out on Jellybean Recordings, which became Fuego Media. However, due to some music business issues [that I’m not privy to], the physical CD was never released. One 12″ was released: The Masi & Mello remix of “The Real Folk Blues”.
At any rate, I found this while searching around Beatport, and I’ve subsequently put the player on my myspace page. It’s actually more of a deep house jam @ like 126bpm. Not too bad, in hindsight. The dub is actually pretty solid…
